Health-conscious consumers who are tired of taking several large fish oil softgels every day now have a smaller, more powerful alternative to fish oil supplements in MegaRed(TM) Omega-3 Krill Oil from Schiff.  MegaRed delivers essential omega-3 fatty acids combined with powerful antioxidants, and is three times better than fish oil for supporting heart health. One MegaRed softgel per day — which is about as small as a coffee bean — supports overall cardiovascular health, helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels and promotes joint health and flexibility. MegaRed is now available nationwide at retailers such as Costco, Walgreens,  CVS and Sam’sClub.

“The benefits of MegaRed Omega-3 Krill Oil when compared to fish oil supplements, include superior nutritional support, strong antioxidant content and better smell and taste,” said Luke Bucci, Ph.D., Schiff vice president of research. “Individuals also love that they only have to take one, small Read more

Below is a short transcript of a testimonial of the Budwig Diet, which I will hope will be the first of many, with my aim to give visitors examples of successes as a means of motivation. So starting with this well documented case of Clifford who reached stage 4 of cancer managed to add another 17 years to his life.

A Tape Transcription by Clifford Beckwith
The following is presented for educational and informational purposes only and in no way should be construed as giving medical advice.
As I narrate this in July, l998, seven and a half years have passed since I was found to have stage four prostate cancer. As I learned later I should have been dead at least seven years. What follows is an account of things
that were done by me and by many other people and the results that followed.

The accounts that follow are not to be considered as specific advice, but the information given may be used by any individual as he or she sees fit, as is the right of any person.

In January 1991 I was diagnosed with Advanced Prostate Cancer. Bone scans and other tests indicated no spread so it was decided to operate. During the operation it was discovered that the cancer had spread to the Lymph glands making it stage four. The operation was not completed as that would not be the answer.

Whois Dr. Johanna Budwig

Dr Johanna Budwig

johanna_budwigWho is Johanna Budwig? This is a interesting question, which I have a small feeling in a few years from now will be known all over the world.

The first interesting fact is that she has been nominated 7 times for the Nobel prize, unfortunately we have to take this on trust as nominees are kept secret for 50 years. Saying that judging by the scientific data available it wouldn’t surprise me if she was nominated, although I am surprised to see that she had not been nominated before 1958 and on this subject I will delve deeper.

Now if you are a believer in conspiracy theories or even politics then it wouldn’t be beyond the realms of possibility that the powers that be would want to suppress this deserved Laureate, still time will tell.

Whatever the case the more you digg deeper the more convinced you become of her credentials.

First I will start with an extract from Wikipedia

Johanna Budwig (30 September 1908–19 May 2003) was a German chemist, pharmacologist and physicist. She developed and promoted (from 1952) the Budwig protocol/Budwig diet, which centres around the regular consumption of foods rich in linolenic and linoleic acids.

The two unsaturated fatty acids have 3 high-energy double bonds (pi-electrons). These fatty acids affect the membranes of cells and are believed to affect oxygen transport and assimilation. Budwig’s concept was that the omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids act to repair damaged cell walls and affect chemical communication of cancer cells to the point where they normalize.

Flaxseed oil (cold-pressed, unprocessed) and low fat cottage cheese are the mainstay of Budwig’s cancer diet (also used for heart disease) (cottage cheese has actually become to be used as a more readily-available substitute for the quark cheese which Johanna Budwig had used in her original work).

In addition to the above components, the Budwig diet advocates the consumption of organic vegetable juices (most prominently carrot juice) and polyphenols such as resveratrol(found in red wine). The diet bans consumption of animal and hydrogenated fats, foods high in preservatives, meats, and especially sugar. She advocated the consumption of whole foods which contain antioxidants in their natural form.

Budwig claimed this diet would cure or prevent many forms of cancers, particularly breast and prostate cancer, and a long list of other degenerative disease including cardiovascular diseases and skin diseases.

What did surprise me is how little is written about this remarkable women, particularly with 7 Nobel nominations!

So in my case there is more research to be done, but of the many quotes available on Johanna, the following is one of my favourites.

“Numerous, independent clinical studies published in major medical journals world-wide confirm Dr. Budwig’s findings….Over 40 years ago Dr Budwig presented clear and convincing evidence, which has been confirmed by hundreds of other related scientific research papers since, that the essential fatty acids were at the core of the answer to the cancer problem…You will come to your own conclusions as to why this simple effective prevention and therapy has not only been ignored—it has been suppressed!”

What is Flaxseed Oil and where does it come from?

Brilliant Blue Flax FlowerA very interesting question for a small blue or red flower which holds such wonderful healing powers.

The original name is in fact linseed a product I remember so very well in my youth, as I used it as a preservative for a wooden bench I made at school. A very interesting point here is that same bench is still in my parents garden nearly 30 years on, good as new not bad from surviving the cold and wet Manchester weather (I will have to get a photo at some stage).

I digress some what, but sitting here writing this entry with the thought of drinking linseed oil certainly turns my stomach. Interestingly this is partly the reason for the name change to Flaxseed oil due to the American FDA stopping its importation as it was not fit for human consumption back in the 1980´s. But thanks to a subtle name change to Flaxseed oil, a logical move as the plant was know as flax and importation resumed as as one says the rest is history.

So I suppose the next question is why has this small flower become so famous in the health foods market, well most probably as the result of its discover in healthcare benefits the most important of which is in its ability to Cure Cancer, yes amazing as it may sound a product as inexpensive as this could cure cancer and save the tax payer billions a year on expensive drug treatments, unless of course the pharmaceutical companies have their way who would prefer to charge hundred for their drugs, which there in lies the problem.

In truth this product really took off after a Dr Johanna Budwig discovered a way to digest FlaxSeed oil in a way that it could quickly be absorbed by the body, by simply mixing with cottage cheese.

Before I over develop this tile I should get back to the point, what is flaxseed oil or at this point what are its properties.

johanna_budwigWell this is my first post, which I hope will get to the truth about Dr Johanna Budwig. I have a long way to go but the plan is really to try to see if the diet she put together really can cure Cancer.

As this is a first post to see how the site comes together I will try to put together my goals with this site.

Firstly I want a site where anyone trying the diet or anyone who is trying to find out if this works or not can have their say.

Secondly I want to point to other sites that can help

Thirdly somewhere where patients can submit their successes and failures.

OK that is a fairly lame start but enouph to get of the ground.
