Skin Cancer is it caused by the Sun?

This may sound like a rhetorical question, particularly when you see all the English Lobsters on the beach here in Spain, but in truth it is a little more complicated than this, particularly when you consider Joanna recommends the Sun as part of her protocol.

mariposa-clinicTo add a more scientific argument to this I was sent an interesting article from a Doctor Lloyd Jenkins of  the Mariposas Clinic, in fact their clinic is one of very few using the Budwig protocol in Europe, as a result of Dr Lloyd Jenkins having met with Joanna.

The article really speaks for itself with the underlying question, is  it the sun that is causing cancer?

The full article is below:

A recent National Cancer Institute study reveals that the rate of deadly melanoma jumped 50% in young women yet stayed the same in young men between 1973 and 2004.

What’s behind this trend? Is it mainstream medicine’s belief that women get too much sun exposure?   Let’s see. Sales of sun care products have grown substantially in the past 30-plus years. According to a cosmetic and toiletry report, the global market for sun care products is expected to grow 6% per year to $4.8 billion by 2011.1

Yet the cases of melanoma continue to grow. Could it be that the more likely culprit is the sunscreen itself?  Sunscreens block UV rays, eliminating your body’s ability to make vitamin D. Research indicates that vitamin D is the most potent cancer fighter there is. In fact, a Nebraska University report says that vitamin D has the potential to lower the risk of all cancers in women over 50 by 77%.3

Moreover, several common sunscreen ingredients have dangerous, even cancer-causing, side effects. Yet they have never been safety tested or safety approved by the FDA. So make sure to check your sunscreen for the following ingredients…

Oxybenzone, sometimes called Benzophenone-3, is linked to allergies, hormone disruption, low birth weights, cell damage, and more. It also helps other chemicals penetrate the skin.4 The Centre for Disease Control says 97% of Americans have this chemical in their system.

Octyl methoxycinnamate (OMC) kills skin cells.

PABA, also known as octyl-dimethyl and padimate-O, attacks DNA and causes genetic mutation when it is exposed to sunlight.  Sunscreen is in lip balm, make-up, moisturisers and more. In one study of more than 10,000 teenagers, girls were 34.4% more likely to use sunscreen than boys were.

If you really want to protect yourself from skin cancer, go outside! All you need is about 20 minutes a day of unprotected sun exposure to get your daily dose of vitamin D.

An Anticancer Research study found that just by getting a little sunlight every day – about 20 minutes for fair-skinned people and two to four times that much for those with dark skin – could reduce the risk of 17 types of cancer.

If you plan to spend more than 20 minutes of fun in the sun, there are natural ways to protect yourself. Here are some tips.

Get enough antioxidants, one of your best lines of defense against all types of skin damage.

Vitamin D. Take 1,000 to 2,000 IEUs per day, particularly during the winter or if you live in cold, damp climates with little sunlight.

Vitamin C. Fights free radicals, reduces inflammation, and boosts immune response. Take 500 mg twice per day with food.

Vitamin E. Great for skin health. I recommend 400 IU per day. Look for vitamin E as “mixed tocopherols” on the label. They are the organic compounds most readily absorbed by your body.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid. A powerful antioxidant that protects skin cells from free radicals, guards their mitochondria (the power plant of every cell), and pumps up your cancer defence mechanisms. I recommend 200 mg to 400 mg daily.

Get enough omega-3s. Studies show that omega 6:3 ratio is important in preventing skin cancer.6  One of the significant aspects of Dr. Budwig’s work is that she has discovered, (or rather rediscovered) the affinity of the human body with the sun. If the body has the right balance of oils and proteins, it has a magnetic field which attracts the photons in sunlight and thus is open to the healing powers of the sun.  One patient commented “I tried Dr. Budwig’s methods for general health improvement, and I was amazed that within even less than the three days she predicted, I felt an incredible improvement in so many areas that it would take too much time to describe it here. I then recommended it to several members of our Ashram and those who took it seriously had similar experiences to mine. We all felt an increased feeling of general well-being, a feeling of lightness, more energy, better circulation and, when in the sun, I felt the healing power of the sun affecting my skin much differently than before. Also, every week or two, I become aware of feeling better in different ways. Old aches go away, my skin improves and I am able to do things better. One woman felt so good about it that she gave it to her children and said that right away she could see improvements in their skin tone. As she spoke, I saw that her own skin had more color and was radiant. And this was only about two days after she started taking the oil-protein combination”

Dr. Jenkins recommends to try rubbing a little mango butter or shea butter on your skin as a sun blocker without the toxic chemicals. You can also use zinc oxide, a natural mineral that provides a reflective barrier on your skin. You can find these in most health food and supplement stores. For more suggestions

Can Honey Cure Cancer

In all honesty I do not know the answer to this and I would need to do some more research to finding out, but what did get me on the subject, was for the last couple of days I have been replacing my sugar intake with honey, as refined sugar can increase you risk of cancer.

I have to admit when I replaced the sugar with honey on my breakfast cereal after 45 years, I didn’t think I could do it, but hey its fine I just knew that the sugar on my muesli was defeating the object ;)

So having converted so easily I wasn’t sure if it had any benefits at all, but I did know that my Uncle´s Sister used honey to finally repair a wound from a near fatal road accident, which normal medication could not.

So after a little research I also found that bee keepers suffer less from cancer and arthritis than any other occupational group worldwide, interesting no!

For more information on the health benefits of honey I suggest you read this article from Natural News now one of my favourite websites.

Breast Cancer Testimonial using the Budwig Diet

fresh-vegtablesI have not been writing this blog for too long, but I am really pleased that it is beginning to take shape, but more importantly my scepticism is disappearing and felt comfortable to enthusiastically promote the benefits of Dr Budwigs Diet to my wife’s Aunt.

Today was a special day as I was so please to see Wanda Cline, who had breast cancer and used the Budwig to cure her disease. Although not completely cured yet she is now beginning to recover using this diet rather than chemotherapy.

It must have been a scary moment and a brave moment to move across from chemo to a change of diet, but doing so she wanted to share her success so that more and more people can see that there are alternatives.

I will not go on too much but I will leave you the visitor to read her full story, but I hope that many others will do the same and share their success. If anyone wants to do the same, please contact me as I would be more than happy to help.

PS Wanda I hope you didnt mind me using your fantastic picture, I thought it would look great to make it a featured post.

Whois Dr. Johanna Budwig

Dr Johanna Budwig

johanna_budwigWho is Johanna Budwig? This is a interesting question, which I have a small feeling in a few years from now will be known all over the world.

The first interesting fact is that she has been nominated 7 times for the Nobel prize, unfortunately we have to take this on trust as nominees are kept secret for 50 years. Saying that judging by the scientific data available it wouldn’t surprise me if she was nominated, although I am surprised to see that she had not been nominated before 1958 and on this subject I will delve deeper.

Now if you are a believer in conspiracy theories or even politics then it wouldn’t be beyond the realms of possibility that the powers that be would want to suppress this deserved Laureate, still time will tell.

Whatever the case the more you digg deeper the more convinced you become of her credentials.

First I will start with an extract from Wikipedia

Johanna Budwig (30 September 1908–19 May 2003) was a German chemist, pharmacologist and physicist. She developed and promoted (from 1952) the Budwig protocol/Budwig diet, which centres around the regular consumption of foods rich in linolenic and linoleic acids.

The two unsaturated fatty acids have 3 high-energy double bonds (pi-electrons). These fatty acids affect the membranes of cells and are believed to affect oxygen transport and assimilation. Budwig’s concept was that the omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids act to repair damaged cell walls and affect chemical communication of cancer cells to the point where they normalize.

Flaxseed oil (cold-pressed, unprocessed) and low fat cottage cheese are the mainstay of Budwig’s cancer diet (also used for heart disease) (cottage cheese has actually become to be used as a more readily-available substitute for the quark cheese which Johanna Budwig had used in her original work).

In addition to the above components, the Budwig diet advocates the consumption of organic vegetable juices (most prominently carrot juice) and polyphenols such as resveratrol(found in red wine). The diet bans consumption of animal and hydrogenated fats, foods high in preservatives, meats, and especially sugar. She advocated the consumption of whole foods which contain antioxidants in their natural form.

Budwig claimed this diet would cure or prevent many forms of cancers, particularly breast and prostate cancer, and a long list of other degenerative disease including cardiovascular diseases and skin diseases.

What did surprise me is how little is written about this remarkable women, particularly with 7 Nobel nominations!

So in my case there is more research to be done, but of the many quotes available on Johanna, the following is one of my favourites.

“Numerous, independent clinical studies published in major medical journals world-wide confirm Dr. Budwig’s findings….Over 40 years ago Dr Budwig presented clear and convincing evidence, which has been confirmed by hundreds of other related scientific research papers since, that the essential fatty acids were at the core of the answer to the cancer problem…You will come to your own conclusions as to why this simple effective prevention and therapy has not only been ignored—it has been suppressed!”

What is Flaxseed Oil and where does it come from?

Brilliant Blue Flax FlowerA very interesting question for a small blue or red flower which holds such wonderful healing powers.

The original name is in fact linseed a product I remember so very well in my youth, as I used it as a preservative for a wooden bench I made at school. A very interesting point here is that same bench is still in my parents garden nearly 30 years on, good as new not bad from surviving the cold and wet Manchester weather (I will have to get a photo at some stage).

I digress some what, but sitting here writing this entry with the thought of drinking linseed oil certainly turns my stomach. Interestingly this is partly the reason for the name change to Flaxseed oil due to the American FDA stopping its importation as it was not fit for human consumption back in the 1980´s. But thanks to a subtle name change to Flaxseed oil, a logical move as the plant was know as flax and importation resumed as as one says the rest is history.

So I suppose the next question is why has this small flower become so famous in the health foods market, well most probably as the result of its discover in healthcare benefits the most important of which is in its ability to Cure Cancer, yes amazing as it may sound a product as inexpensive as this could cure cancer and save the tax payer billions a year on expensive drug treatments, unless of course the pharmaceutical companies have their way who would prefer to charge hundred for their drugs, which there in lies the problem.

In truth this product really took off after a Dr Johanna Budwig discovered a way to digest FlaxSeed oil in a way that it could quickly be absorbed by the body, by simply mixing with cottage cheese.

Before I over develop this tile I should get back to the point, what is flaxseed oil or at this point what are its properties.

Is it true what they say about Dr Johanna Budwig?

johanna_budwigWell this is my first post, which I hope will get to the truth about Dr Johanna Budwig. I have a long way to go but the plan is really to try to see if the diet she put together really can cure Cancer.

As this is a first post to see how the site comes together I will try to put together my goals with this site.

Firstly I want a site where anyone trying the diet or anyone who is trying to find out if this works or not can have their say.

Secondly I want to point to other sites that can help

Thirdly somewhere where patients can submit their successes and failures.

OK that is a fairly lame start but enouph to get of the ground.
