Dr. David Servan-Schreiber Anti Cancer

I have to admit that writing this blog has had a profound effect on me and the more I learn the more I realise Joanne Budwig was right, not because I have tried it but because there is so much evidence that diet can stop cancer.

Today I just came across Dr. Servan-Schreiber who had brain tumour when he was 31, although to rid himself of the cancer he underwent the the typical route of chemotherapy, but afterwards he wanted to see if there was a way to ensure there is was no relapse. Interestingly when he asked his Oncologist about lifestyle changes, he had no idea, scary but quite typical.

So recently Dr David Servan-Schreiber released his book Anti Cancer: A New Way of Life, which is DavidĀ“s study into the effects of diet on Cancer .

For me the message is that the writer is a Doctor, who was willing to look at alternatives and realise there is an alternative and was apple to look at the myths and get to the facts.

The interview below, should give you a feel or this interview over at Wbay

I just finished reading Anti Cancer: A New Way of Life and it is a brilliant book. The recently released version is the second edition of the book. The first edition was released a few years ago and Dr. Sevran-Schreiber updated this version with new information. The author is now 8 years in remission after having survived not one, but two bouts of brain cancer. When the cancer returned, it came back in the same exact spot from which it was surgically removed a couple of years earlier. It was after his second bout with it that he thought to ask his oncologist what he could do to avoid a relapse. Since Dr. Sevran-Schreiber was traditionally trained, he was not at all surprised when his doctor told him, he didn’t have to do anything differently because they don’t have any data to suggest that changing one’s lifestyle will impact the disease either way! Amazing! The book is a riveting account of his journey and all the peer reviewed studies (complete with footnotes and chapter notes) that helped him to improve his health.

I am a 2 1/2 year ovarian cancer survior. I opted for conventional and natural methods of treatment. I took the natural product called Immunocal, to optimize the immune system. My recovery from surgery and chemo treatments was quicker and side effects minimal. I continue to take the Immunocal today and my naturopath doctor says I have a strong immune system which keeps my cancer in remission. I try to have a healthy lifestyle (avoid sugar, eat more veggies and fruits, regular exercise and a postive attitude)but if I stray off from time to time I am confident that keeping my immune system in top shape will keep inflammation away which in turn keeps diseases away. Visit website above for more information. Thanks.
